I'm sure there are many of you who understand the mysteries of YouTube much better than I do. For some reason, this video I took a long time ago of Gibbie and Ezra climbing up a slide has gotten over 36,000 views. I have a little suspicion that some unfortunate misconstruing of the title may have generated some of the hits... but who knows. I guess it's kind of cute anyway.

Birthday Soup
For Gibbie's Fourth birthday, he decided to put on a show of the story "Birthday Soup" from the book
Little Bear by Elsie Homelund Minarek (illustrated by Maurice Sendak). He spent a lot of time thinking about the details of the performance (curtains, costumes, etc.) and working on his lines.
Here's the final product, recorded live at his birthday party:

Battle Creek
After a quiet start to our Sunday afternoon (which included some jumping) my father-in-law Doug introduced us to a park in St. Paul called Battle Creek. The drive to get there is almost as great as the place itself. I love Shepherd Road by the Mississippi with it's water, trees, and trains. Gibbie especially loves the trains. Feel free to look at the small album of photos I took of our outing. (I like the slideshow feature.)Libby and Gibbie played a game which I think is called "Pooh Sticks." Libby can comment on the literary reference, but I believe the game involves dropping sticks from one side of a bridge and seeing whose stick comes out the other side first. Gibbie thinks it's a lot of fun.

Gibbie and Ezra Videos
I've been playing with the ability of my little digital camera to take short silent movies. Last week's splashing outing on Snelling Avenue seemed like a great subject.
Here's Ezra playing with a wooden bowl:
These are posted through YouTube and you need the shockwave-flash plugin to see them. This is kind of funny because I blog using an old ibook running Debian Linux. As for as I can tell, Macromedia doesn't make a linux flash plugin for the ppc chip, therefore I am unable to see the movies after I upload them. Someday I'll blog more about the blessings and adventure of being a linux-only family...
